Keep your brewing equipment in top shape by using Cafiza when backflushing. Coffee grounds and oils will build up in your group head and can affect the taste of your shots as well as cause damage to your machine. Using Cafiza helps to break up the oils and knock those grounds loose.
A little goes a long way but making Cafiza part of your normal routine will extend the lifespan of your machine.
Instructions for use:
Use about 3g or 1/2 tsp in a blank disk in your portafilter
Insert your portafilter into your group head and activate your brew cycle. Allow it to run for at least 10 seconds.
Run your group at least 5 times while keeping an eye on the color of the water coming from your solenoid valve. It should run clearer with each cycle.
Put your regular brew basket back in your portafilter and run the group a couple more times to rinse.
(If your portafilter and brew baskets don’t rinse clean, you can also soak them in Cafiza dissolved in hot water to clean them. Rinse well!)
